Old Pal Texas Tavern sits on a corner of Caldwell county’s historic square. OPB serves up ice cold drinks, southern cooking, and family-friendly good times.

Old Pal is what everyone loves about Austin, but has to go to Lockhart to find. It’s a come-as-you-are honky tonk joint with live music, quality bar meals, beer that’s iced down every morning, and an unpretentious atmosphere suitable for everyone that walks through the door.

We collaborated with a team that included partners, chef and contractors on everything from branding, interior design, menus, merchandise and wayfinding, to taste testing, sign restoration, and material sourcing.

The Old Pal illuminated sign was built by a friend and painted by us in our workroom. We built and screen printed Old Pal sidewalk signage in our shop as well. The “Retail Store” sign you’ll find inside was saved from a condo developer’s dumpster years ago and has been part of the Arts and Rec sign collection for some time now. It’s wonderful to see the sign cleaned up and in a permanent home.
